About the founder

FOUNDER/EVENT PLANNER & DESIGNER

Sarah De Jesus, who considers herself a “dreamer,” has had a passion for all things pretty, creative and unique from a very young age. She credits her talented maternal grandmother (who sews, bakes and crochets) for passing on the “artistic” genes to her mother and hence to herself. Sarah’s enthusiasm for designing, entertaining and event planning began while working with her sisters as they planned annual high school house parties which were always successful and most anticipated. Throughout the years she’s hosted many of her family’s and friends’ gatherings because she’s always found pleasure in seeing others having a wonderful time with all things beautiful. She was inspired by the happiness she felt and always looks forward to sharing in joyous and important moments with others. This passion has led her to pursue a business doing what she truly loves.

Prior to launching DJED, Sarah completed her Wedding/Events Certification, and has attended different seminars, FIT courses, a Preston Bailey and a Jennifer Gilbert classes (at the Learning Annex ). She has also freelanced for other successful event planners/designers in the industry. Moreover, her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Felician College and an Associate’s degree in Fashion Marketing and Management from Berkeley College in New Jersey. Her design style has been described as “Modern, Clean, and Clever”. Sarah’s work has been recognized and admired by many. In June 2011, she was a recipient of the “Vision of Tomorrow” award by ISES (International Special Events Society) NJ North for her involvement with the organization and her passion and drive to make a difference in the events’ industry. In 2012, she was recognized as “Doer of the Week” in this interview by Martha Stewart’s Dreamers Into Doers Community. Additionally, Sarah’s design work has been featured in many popular blogs such as Martha Stewart (Up Close & Personal) Blog, Parentables, Disney Baby, Dreamers Into Doers, Amy Atlas, Kara’s Party Ideas, Hostess with the Mostess, ISS MagazinePizzazzerie, Celebrations at Home, and Bird’s Party Magazine, among others.
