It has been about a week since I had the honor of being named “Doer of the Week” by Martha Stewart’s Dreamers Into Doers Community, so I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how it felt to be chosen. For those who may not know, “Dreamers Into Doers is a Martha Stewart community that celebrates talented and creative women who turn their dreams into careers they love”.
I joined this community back in late 2010 when I learned that it would help me interact with other women who had similar goals and dreams as me. When I joined I was not aware of the possibility of being featured on their site or of the conferences or about being a doer of the week. However, I was still very excited to get to know and learn from others with similar interests. My first party photo feature happened to be on this site, which I don’t think I celebrated as much as I should have since I was so new to it all. This was the photo, so YAY to me!
Later in January 2011, I had the opportunity to attend the Dreamers Into Doers Conference in New York City where 80 women from all around the US had the chance come together to connect and learn at the 2-day workshops held at MSLO Headquarters; as well as attend a taping of the Martha Stewart Show. This experience was incredible, I learned so much from the wonderful speakers at the conference, befriended ladies who I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with in many occasions and continue to be in touch with. I can’t tell you how much has changed since those 2 days.
After the conference I was inspired to get my business Facebook page started, collaborated with other “doers”, worked a lot harder, got more of my work featured in different blogs and got my website launched. So when I received the email that I was selected to be “Doer of the week”, I don’t think I finished reading the email when I said to myself, “Oh My God!” and dialed my best friend to share the news. I was smiling and crying at the same time. It was a dreamed and long awaited email. This was such an important moment for me as it represented a reward to my hard work and dedication. It was certainly a dream come true, a dream I didn’t even know I had prior to joining this amazing community! So I am VERY thankful to have been chosen.
The Martha Stewart Dreamers Into Doers Conference is coming up this March 6-7 which I am very excited to be attending. I can’t wait to see what this new experience will bring! Stay tuned for the next blog on this topic.
I hope this post inspires you to never give up on your dreams and to always believe that ANYTHING is possible.
